To make up for being MIA for a bit here's another video. We talk to a hay stack, pumpkin-napping merchant, and a Librarian that really seems to dislike us.

[King Graham arrives at the city of Kolyma, and walks up to a house behind the town library]
NARRATOR: This door is locked. You notice a tiny corner of something poking out slightly from beneath it.
[he tries to pick it up]
NARRATOR: You attempt to edge it out with your fingers, but you cannot manage to get a grasp on it.
[Graham enters the library instead, and finds a large room filled with books and an elderly librarian (grey hair, glasses, green dress) sitting at the front desk with arms folded]
LIBRARIAN: May I help you?
GRAHAM: Yes. I was hoping to enrich my knowledge of this fair land by way of perusing your historical texts.
NARRATOR: My, that was well put!
LIBRARIAN: No.
NARRATOR: Not terribly effective, though.
GRAHAM: Ummm, pardon me ... Perhaps I was not clear.
LIBRARIAN: You were.
GRAHAM: Then may I--
LIBRARIAN: No.
GRAHAM: Why can't I--
LIBRARIAN: You are not a member.
GRAHAM: Well then, can I become a member?
LIBRARIAN: No.
GRAHAM: Why can I not become a member?
LIBRARIAN: We already have far too many members. It's difficult to keep track of everything.
GRAHAM: How many members are there?
LIBRARIAN: Two.
GRAHAM: If I may inquire, who are your two members?
LIBRARIAN: You may not. Neither the Count of Kolyma nor the elderly gentleman who lives next door would approve of my divulging that information to you.
GRAHAM: Ah. Thank you anyway ... You mentioned the Count of Kolyma is a member of this library.
LIBRARIAN: Yes.
GRAHAM: Have you seen him recently?
NARRATOR: The librarian looks at you strangely.
LIBRARIAN: No.
GRAHAM: Is there any way I might meet the count?
LIBRARIAN: Yes.
GRAHAM: How?
LIBRARIAN: Die.
GRAHAM: I would have to die to meet the count?
LIBRARIAN: Depends.
GRAHAM: On what?
LIBRARIAN: Your importance.
GRAHAM: And if I am important?
LIBRARIAN: Then you might be fortunate enough to be buried on his estate.
GRAHAM: Who is buried on the Count's estate?
LIBRARIAN: Counts.
GRAHAM: Ah, past Counts, of course. Anyone else?
LIBRARIAN: Yes.
GRAHAM: Who?
LIBRARIAN: Him.
GRAHAM: Pardon? Do you mean the Count is dead?
NARRATOR: The librarian decides to avoid your gaze and seems disinclined to speak further with you on the subject.
[he looks at a nearby grandfather clock]
NARRATOR: As you watch the pendulum swing back and forth ... back and forth ... back and forth ... you feel a bit light-headed.
[he looks around the library]
NARRATOR: Piles upon piles of unstacked books lay scattered around the library.
[he looks at a quill sitting on the librarian's desk]
NARRATOR: It is a simple quill, standing in its inkpot.
[he tries to grab the quill]
NARRATOR: Removing the quill, without any immediate purpose, might cause the librarian to notice that it is missing.
[he looks around at the shelves]
NARRATOR: You glance at the titles on this shelf.
[he looks at one of the books]
NARRATOR: "Chronicles of the Brady Bunch" ... Interesting. This book has a warning label. "Prolonged exposure may cause irreparable damage to your perception of reality."
[he moves on to another bookshelf]
NARRATOR: You glance at the titles on this shelf.
[he looks at one of the books]
NARRATOR: "Remember the Triton, an Autobiography from the Ruler of the Mer-people."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Icebergs and Unsinkable Ships."
[he moves on to another bookshelf]
NARRATOR: You glance at the titles on this shelf.
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Revealing the Truth about Seeing Unicorns (And Something About Oneself in the Process)."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "The Legends of Wierwood Forest."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Future's History, the True Story of Space Quest XII."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Gullible's Travels."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "A Guide to Bushranging, Safety Tips on Robbery while Wearing a Metal Box on Your Head."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "The Theory of Relativity (And Other Half-baked, Crackpot Ideas)."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "A Traveler's Guide to Llewdor" ... You skim through the book. It describes a small town, which serves as a port of call for passing ships. Apparently, it is under the jurisdiction of a wizard, who is not at all popular with the locals.
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Selling Your Wares Without Selling Yourself, the Art of Being a Lowly Merchant and Feeling Proud of It" ... Mildly curious, you open the book. The first chapter is entitled "The Truth of Falsity." It begins to describe how to make a totally worthless item seem like a "must have" for the gullible buyer. A later chapter entitled "The Serious Business of Talking Funny" details how to adopt a foreign accent and use fragmented grammar to convince the same gullible buyer that you are not just some ordinary con-artist trying to make a quick gold.
[he moves on to another bookshelf]
NARRATOR: You glance at the titles on this shelf.
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Trolls and Bridges, an Obsession Explained."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Guidebook to the Land of Tamir."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "A Tale of the Flanneled One" ... Apparently this book is about the author of a six-part space opera.
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Arrival of the Ancients, Were Their Origins of This World?" ... That seems like a silly title. Where else would they have come from? The stars?
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Chronicling 'The Longest Journey' (Or 'How To Sustain a Compelling Story When Your Lead Character Sounds Like an Airhead')."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Magic for the Layman, All You Need is a Good Book."

NARRATOR: "Dwarves are from Mars, Elves are from Venus."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "The Taming of the Shrew."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Jousting and Other Party Games."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "The Beginner's Guide to Buying Your First Horse."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Drunks and Monks, How to Tell Them Apart."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Quest for Glory, a Hero's Death."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Ten Easy Steps to Owning Your Own Castle."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Livin' La Vida Loca"
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "How Not to Turn a Novel Into a Film (see 'Dune')."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Curses and Counter-Curses (And How Not to Get Them Confused)."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Eusperia, the Many That Became One" ... This book tells of how, over time, the realm of Eusperia ceased to be a multitude of feuding regions, and became a united kingdom. Once unable to defend itself, even as a whole, it now has a large standing army. The present Lord of the Realm is said to be kind, generous, and wise.
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "The Art of Becoming a Portcullis to Portcullis Salesman."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Melodies for Minstrels."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Ooga Booga Land and Other Undesirable Travel Destinations."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "The Carpenter's Handbook."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "The Big Book of British Smiles."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "101 Things to Do When You Are Lonely" ... You're not even going to touch this one!
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Let's Get Physical" ... 'With what?,' you wonder.
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Modern Inventions Monthly" ... This month's edition focuses on an essay entitled "Reinventing the Wheel."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Shrimps and Barbecues, an Inexplicable Connection."
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Carnivorous Plants, When and What to Feed Them Without Arousing Suspicion" ... It is written by a man named Seymore Krelborn.
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Cooking Tips for Singles" ... While you are single and you can't cook, you still have no need of this book. At least, not with the entire kitchen staff at your disposal back home!
[he looks at another book]
NARRATOR: "Even Rotten Tomatoes Deserve a Little Respect."
[he leaves the library, and this time takes out his sword in order to retrieve the paper poking out from underneath the back door]
NARRATOR: Making sure that no one is watching, you slide your thin blade under the door and draw out what appears to be a letter.
[he opens the letter and reads it]
NARRATOR: You open the letter and read it ... "Dear applicant, please find enclosed the library membership card to which you are now entitled. The five-year application process has concluded, and we are pleased to inform you that your status as a member of the town library is confirmed. Welcome to an exclusive group of patrons! Yours sincerely, Town Librarian (P.S. Please sign your name on the card to ensure validation)."
[he heads back inside the library and tries to hand over the library card]
GRAHAM: Will you accept this?
LIBRARIAN: No.
GRAHAM: Why not?
LIBRARIAN: It has not been signed.
[he attempts to take the quill]
LIBRARIAN: What are you doing?
GRAHAM: I was just ...
LIBRARIAN: Don't.
[he waits for the librarian to look the other way]
NARRATOR: You quickly grab the quill while the librarian isn't looking and sign your name on the blank library card. You replace the quill before the librarian notices it missing.
GRAHAM: Will you accept this?
LIBRARIAN: Yes.
[she looks over the library card]
LIBRARIAN: You are younger than I expected.
GRAHAM: Um ... I eat well. And get a lot of exercise.
LIBRARIAN: I see.
GRAHAM: So ... what do I do now?
LIBRARIAN: Borrow.
GRAHAM: You mean I can take books from this library?
LIBRARIAN: No.
GRAHAM: Oh.
[he looks at the bookshelves]
NARRATOR: You would not know where to start. Perhaps the librarian could be of help here.
[he heads back to the librarian]
LIBRARIAN: Yes?
GRAHAM: Could you recommend a good book?
[the librarian gets up, heads to the back, and retrieves a book]
LIBRARIAN: There.
[he begins reading]
NARRATOR: This book is entitled "Kolyma, Perfect One Day, Better the Next." Browsing through it, you notice an interesting excerpt ... "If you are considering traveling to the wondrous land of Kolyma, then you should be congratulated on your timing. For indeed, it has changed much since creation many years ago. The very occasional earthquake has altered the land to the east somewhat, creating deep chasms near the mountainside. The changing ocean levels in this region have caused an alteration in the shape of the coastline and, of course, the people themselves have relocated from where they once lived. Most now reside in the town, which is nestled in the safety of the mountains. A wise decision, for more than a few have claimed to hear the sounds of howling at night ... a sign that many wild animals have moved into Wierwood Forest in recent times. As a result, few venture past the town gates, especially after dark. This isolation and the relative scarcity of people throughout most of the realm has made Kolyma a haven for the tourist who wishes to soak up the natural atmosphere of the land. It has also made a significant convenience for those who have settled in Kolyma far from the town and wish to maintain their privacy to pursue their own ambitions in peace. The realm of Kolyma is a wondrous land of beauty and, for the adventurous among you, danger. See also, Guidebook to the Land of the Green Isles."

From wikipedia.org:

King's Quest II: Romancing the Stones (aka King's Quest II+) is a fangame remake/retelling of Sierra Entertainment's King's Quest II: Romancing the Throne by AGD Interactive produced through a fan license by Activision.

King Graham travels to Kolyma to find a bride. Daventry's new prime minister Gervain convinces Graham to look outside of Daventry for a bride, based on an image Graham saw in the magic mirror. While there he must overcome the Black Cloak Society, and stop the witch Hagatha and The Father, and save both his Kingdom and Kolyma. He learns that Gervaine is really The Father, who had planted the image in the mirror, to lead Graham to Kolyma in an attempt to kill him there. This was done in hopes of him becoming the new King of Daventry, as the next in line to the throne.

[...]

Town Librarian: She's a grumpy, snobby old woman whose way of thinking exceeds the term narrow-minded. Following all the petty rules to the letter, this person can be a major pain for any would-be member who tries to get access to the wealth of information stored in Kolyma's library.

From gamefaqs.com:

"King's Quest II: Romancing the Stones"

Your ship has dropped you off on a pier outside of the city of Kolyma. It's time to go exploring!

After the cut scene, talk to the merchant who was digging through the fountain. Wait a minute. Was that a baby pumpkin that just spoke? Odd...At this point, go to the door to the right of the Kolyma Library and use the picket on it to get a letter. Open the letter by using it on yourself. Now enter the library. Use the membership card that was enclosed in the letter on the librarian (voiced by Britney Brimhall). Apparently you need to sign for the card, but the librarian won't let you use a quill. How do we get past this? You'll notice that every so often, the librarian looks the other way, to the left. When this happens, use the membership card on the quill to sign it. Then show the card to the librarian. Now talk to the librarian and she'll get a book out. Use the hand cursor on the book to read the book. Now leave the library.
