[scene opens with a young female librarian (hair in a bun, glasses, pearl earrings, grey sweater vest, blue blouse) sitting at the front desk of an elementary school library, reading a copy of Dashiell Hammett's "The Maltese Falcon"]
MAN 1: [in voice over] Might I remind you, Spade, that you may have the Falcon ...
[cut to black and white footage of characters from the novel]
MAN 1: We will certainly have you.
[cut back to the librarian reading the book, then to more black and white footage of characters from the novel]
WOMAN 1: I haven't lived a good life. I've been bad.
[cut back to the librarian, who turns the page, then cut to more black and white footage of characters from the novel]
WOMAN 2: When you're slapped, you'll take it and like it.
[cut back to the librarian turning the page, then back to more black and white footage of characters from the novel]
MAN 2: Keep on ridin' me, they're gonna be pickin' iron outta your liver!
WOMAN 1: I'm worse than you could know ...
MAN 3: The cheaper the crook, the gaudier the patter!
[cut back to the librarian (with a shocked expression on her face), then to a cat hiding in one of the bookshelves, then back to more black and white footage of characters from the novel]
WOMAN 3: Well, let's talk about the black bird!
[cut to an exterior shot of the Lawrence Barnes School, then back to inside of the school library, as a group of adult patrons are sitting at a nearby table reading books]
[cut to a closeup of the librarian (as she continues to read the book and smiles), then to one of the patrons, as he puts his book down and begins singing]
MALE PATRON 1: I really like you, my new librarian ... but when you been?
[cut to the patron on stage, playing a guitar and singing]
MALE PATRON 1: Again, I know, I gotta tell you so ...
[cut back to the patron singing in the library, as the other patrons bob their heads back and forth]
MALE PATRON 1: Goodie goodie gumdrops, don't you know! You pop my heart with your northern soul!
[cut to the patrons singing and playing instruments in the library, as children dance around]
MALE PATRON 1: Bubble floss heart shape candy shell! I'm soft inside and can't you tell?
[cut to one of the other male patrons, as he puts down his book and begins singing]
MALE PATRON 2: I really like you ...
[cut to the patron on stage, playing a keyboard]
MALE PATRON 2: My new librarian ...
[cut to black and white footage of one of the characters from the novel sneaking through the halls of the school, then back to the patron playing the keyboard]
MALE PATRON 2: But when you been?
[cut back to the patron singing in the library, as the librarian continues reading (apparently oblivious to the noise)]
MALE PATRON 2: Again, I know, I saw you at a show ...
[cut back to black and white footage of characters from the novel]
MALE PATRON 2: [in voice over] Goodie goodie gumdrops, rodeo! Tell a hundred people, well, three may go!
[cut back to the patrons performing in the library as the children dance]
MALE PATRON 2: Goodie goodie gumdrops, you and me! We came on time, but the band played early!
[cut back to the library, as the female librarian begins to sing (while the other patrons bury their faces in their books)]
FEMALE PATRON 1: I really like you ...
[cut to the patron on stage, playing a guitar]
FEMALE PATRON 1: My new librarian ... but when you been?
[cut to another shot of the patrons performing on stage, as the librarian walks by reading her book (and not paying attention to them at all)]
FEMALE PATRON 1: Again, I know, I gotta tell you so ...
[cut back to the patrons performing in the library as the children dance (as the librarian again walks through the scene while reading her book)]
FEMALE PATRON 1: Goodie goodie gumdrops, don't you know! You pop my heart with your northern soul! Bubble floss heart shape candy shell! I'm soft and shy, but can't you tell?
[cut to a shot of the cat jumping through the book return slot, then to black and white footage of the characters from the novel staring in horror at something off camera]
CHORUS: I really like you ...
[cut back to the library, as the librarian (finally) stops reading and looks at the patrons while putting a finger to her lips]
LIBRARIAN: Shh!
[they cover their faces with their books, as the song ends]

From smittens.com:

Their music is more than just happy-go-lucky. It has more to it than just fun (though fun it is). On The Coolest Thing About Love, that happy/cute side of the band seems mostly an idealistic dream of what love can be, one that in real life is felt in passing moments but still worth striving for. Love is complicated by distance, personal failures, and the passing of time. But when everything clicks right, it generates excitement, peace and contentment. The Smittens capture all of that in suitable song forms—classic pop anthems, impromptu doo-wop ballads, the melancholy strumming of a guitar.
