[video opens in the "Closed Reserve" section of the library, as a young man is looking around the stacks]

I want to be a librarian
I want to check out your books

[cut to a close up of a female librarian typing gibberish ("fgy dfewq") on a typewriter]

Please give them to me
With the barcode facing up

[cut to another female librarian pushing a cart and reshelving books (although she keeps staring straight ahead without actually looking where the books are going)]

Please don't bring them back too late
Or I'll have to charge you fifty cents a daa-aaa-aay!

[cut to the man pulling a book off the shelf, then carelessly tossing it back on the shelf (out of order), causing the librarian to grip the handle of the bookcart tightly]

You won't like that!

[cut to the man sitting at a table and turning pages on a book by licking his fingers, causing the librarian at the typewriter to push her glasses down the bridge of her nose]

I want to be a librarian
Wearing glasses every single daa-aaa-aay!

[the man turns on his iPad and begins tapping the table to the rhythm of the music, causing the librarian to repeatedly (and violently) stamp the book in front of her over and over]

Don't you find me appealing
In a nerdy sort of waa-aaa-aay?

[the man chews some gum and then sticks it underneath the table, causing one librarian to snap a pencil in half, while the other looks up from the card catalog]
[the two librarians meet and stand behind the man, seeming to communicate telepathically with one another (one says "This boy has no understanding of library protocols" and the other replies "We must make him understand"]

Please don't talk so loudly
Please, please ...

[they tap him on the shoulder and (very slowly) bring their fingers to their lips and whisper "Shhhhh"]

Meet me in the closed reserve
I'll let you read all the new magazii-iii-ines!
I'll let you touch the first editions
If you promise me, if you promise me, if you promise me your hands are clee-ee-eean!

[they appear to have hypnotized him, as he gets up and follows them towards the stacks ... He suddenly finds himself alone between two bookshelves, then turns to see the librarians standing at either end, as the shelves slide together and crush him]
[cut to an image of the man (dead and bloodied) in between the pages of a giant book, which closes to reveal that the title page reads "Library Crimes, Haunted Love Press" with a picture of the two librarians on it]

From nzonscreen.com:

Dunedin band Haunted Love ticked every cliche but still won the hearts of librarians everywhere with this tale of summary justice administered to a disobedient user by two spooky, other-worldly librarians (not to mention "the best use of compact movable shelving in a music video, ever"). This video was the song's only release and achieved considerable viral success. It was directed by Donald Ferns and filmed at Dunedin Public Library with Haunted Love's Geva Downey and Rainy McMaster as the avenging librarians - and Henry Davidson as the hapless user.

From librarian-image.net:

This first song I'm going to tell you about is quite possibly the creepiest and also the funniest song about libraries and librarians I've ever heard. Titled "Librarian" by the New Zealand band Haunted Love, you've got to see it (and hear it) to believe it. Set in a library, it shows two rather... focused... librarians and a young man who stands in for the "typical" librarygoer... chewing gum, folding page corners, listening to music. As they subtitle, "This boy has no understanding of library protocols." Then they come at him with the uber-shush (if anyone ever looked like this while shushing me, I'd certainly be quiet!) and invite him into the reserved area with promises of reading the new magazines and touching the first editions. Sadly, it doesn't turn out quite that way...

Fact: The United States library infrastructure is one of the most secretive in the world.
Fact: 678,000 people have died to protect its secrets.
Fact: Kelsey Grammar sings and plays the piano for the theme song of "Frasier".
Look them up!

[scene opens in the home of Josie Willis ("28, White Female, Library Reporter, San Diego Sun Times Tribune") as her phone starts ringing]
JOSIE: Hello?
BOB: [over the phone] Josie, they're after me! Save me!
JOSIE: Bob?
BOB: [over the phone] The ninjas, they're librarians! They--
[the sound of an explosion cuts off the call, as Josie drops the phone]

Dewey Decimated:
Taking Back the System

[cut to a park]
JOSIE: [in voice over] How will you recognize me?
JOE: [in voice over] You come dressed as Ben Franklin.
JOSIE: [in voice over] How will I know it's you?
JOE: [in voice over] I'll be holding a red crayon ... And my name is Joe Beeble, the construction worker.
[camera focuses on Josie (wearing glasses and a bald cap), as a man wearing a hard hat and carrying a giant novelty crayon walks up and stands next to her]
JOSIE: So, uh ... you gonna help me find out how Bob died?
JOE: Wow, you get right to the point. Like putting a wiener in a donut hole, without, uh ... without any foreplay. Well, I'm in danger, and I could be killed at any moment. And that's how Bob died. Now look, what happened to him--
JOSIE: Look, are you gonna help me find out about the Intelligence Mafia or not?
JOE: [looks around nervously] I can't tell you everything. But I ... You're gonna hafta find out some things on your own. Just ask yourself one question! Why do libraries still exist? I mean, nobody goes in 'em! And who would wanna work there? And if they do hire somebody, it's a quiet person!
[he continues looking around]
JOE: Why do libraries still exist?
JOSIE: It's, it's to promote the ... Uh, the love of reading?
[he shoots her a dirty look]
JOSIE: So--
JOE: Are you that naive? You buy into that?!
[the sound of an explosion can be heard, as Josie hits the ground while Joe runs away]
JOE: [shouting back] Don't follow me!
[Josie slowly gets up and - seeing that Joe has dropped his crayon - she opens it up to discover a piece of paper inside, which reads "Requirements for Master's Degree for Library Sciences. Time to Graduate: 4 years. Retirement: Never. Classes: Books and Learning. Dewey Decimal 101. Stacking 101. Stacking 201. Stacking 301. Physical. Argumentation 101. Baking 101. Specialized Classes: Gymnastics. Balance. Silent Prowling. Throwing Stars 101. Advanced Throwing Stars. Nunchuks 101. Deadly Killing Techniques. Required Reading: Bomb Maker's Bible. Work with C4. Top 10 Ways to Kill Someone with One Hand. Sexual Techniques."]
[she looks over and sees a large woman staring at her, who ends up taking off her dress to reveal that it's actually a man carrying a knife]
MAN: [throws the knife to the ground and assumes a fighting stance]
[Josie runs away, and the man sprints off in pursuit ... she grabs a bottle of water and a book from someone lying on a blanket, then hides behind a tree, and (when the man stops to answer his ringing cellphone) she sprays him in the face with water]
MAN: Ow!
[he drops his phone in the confusion, so Josie grabs it off the ground before making her escape]
[cut to Josie back in her home, as she checks the man's phone contacts (which include "baba booey" and "big boss"]
JOSIE: Okay, maybe it's under "B" for "Big" ...
[the phone suddenly rings, so Josie answers it]
WILFORD: [over the phone] Hey, did you hear the news?
JOSIE: What?
WILFORD: [over the phone] A new baby panda was born ... but that's not relevant at the moment. We've been watching you, lady.
JOSIE: I don't die easy ... We need to talk.
WILFORD: [over the phone] I agree.
JOSIE: How will we recognize each other?
[cut back to the park, as Josie (wearing a Pope hat) is sitting on the ground reading "501 Spanish Verbs", when a man in a pink t-shirt with a band aid on his face sits down next to her]
JOSIE: There you are. I was wondering when you'd show up ... Who in the h-e-double hockey sticks are you?
WILFORD: [scratches his band aid] I'm Wilford Clamtrend, I run the CIA ... Y'know, you're awful hard to kill.
JOSIE: "Awfully."
WILFORD: [pause] It's "awful." You're wrong.
JOSIE: "Awfully" ... It's an adverb.
WILFORD: You're wrong ... Uh, agree to disagree.
JOSIE: What're you doing in San Diego?
WILFORD: I came for Comic Con, stayed for the weather. Why is it relevant?
JOSIE: Just making conversation ...
WILFORD: Good. I know what you're here for, and I'm here to give you some information and a warning. You wanna know what libraries have to do with ninjas?
JOSIE: Mainly that, and--
WILFORD: Please, don't interrupt. I'm a CIA agent, the head of the CIA ... And you wanna know why we only recruit people who are particularly silent?
[he leans in close]
WILFORD: We pick people in high school, and then we cultivate them as assassins. We give them their own library, so they can have free will, and run their assassin squads from there. We've been doing it since the fifties, that's how we defeated the Soviets! Are you okay with that, lady?
JOSIE: Y'know, for people who are so skilled at silence and secrecy, you're an awful bunch of Chatty Cathys!
[he puts a knife to her throat]
WILFORD: Yeah, we are ... but we can still kill you. Now.
JOSIE: Hey, did you hear the news?
WILFORD: Another baby panda?
JOSIE: No. I don't die easy!
[she picks up her book of Spanish verbs and hits him in the head, knocking him out]
WILFORD: Awww ...
JOSIE: And I'm awfully hard to kill ...

[Courage is digging a hole in the backyard when he finds a book entitled "The Pixie and the Prickle Pirate"]
MURIEL: [walks into scene] Courage! I thought you returned that to the library ages ago ...
COURAGE: [nervous laugh]
[she takes the book and looks at the "due date" slip in the back, which reads "Two Years Ago Next Tuesday" in big red letters]
MURIEL: Oh my ... This book is due two years ago next Tuesday! It's a wonder we all haven't been arrested, and sent to library prison!
[she hands the book back to Courage]
MURIEL: You better return this right away!
[cut to Courage walking up to a mobile library with two lion statues in the front]
COURAGE: [he screams when an elderly female librarian opens the window]
LIBRARIAN: [leans in from behind the "Librarian on Duty" sign] Shh!
COURAGE: [gingerly hands her the book and starts babbling]
LIBRARIAN: Shh!
[she pushes a button on her cash register, and an LED sign above her head marked "Overdue Fee" rings up the total fine of "$3,972.43"]
COURAGE: [reaches into his pockets and tries to pay with garbage like a lollipop covered in lint]
LIBRARIAN: [knocks the garbage off of her counter and points to the sign, which now reads "$3,974.50"]
COURAGE: [shows that his pockets are empty and tries to back away slowly]
LION STATUES: [come to life] Return what you owe, or you owe and owe and owe!
COURAGE: [screams and runs away in fright]
LIBRARIAN: [she waves her hand over the book, causing it to magically appear on Courage's doorstep when he arrives home]
[cut to Courage breaking open his piggy bank looking for money]
MURIEL: [hands him a couple of bills] Courage, I don't think it's much, but it's all the savings I've got ...
EUSTACE: [grabs the money] If the dog has to pay a book fine, he should earn the money his own self!
MURIEL: Eustace, we should help the poor dear ... He's in this way over his head!
EUSTACE: That's what you get for reading books! TV's free ... [he uses the remote control]
MURIEL: [picks up the book] Well, if he still has the book, we might as well enjoy it ... [she cuts her finger on one of the pages] Ow!
EUSTACE: The TV don't give you paper cuts, neither ... [he tries to grab the book from her, but ends up cutting himself] Ow! Stupid sharp book!
[the book starts flipping pages by itself, as Courage hears the voices of the lion statues repeat "You owe and owe and owe"]
MURIEL: I feel ... odd.
EUSTACE: Me too ... [he mutates into the "Prickle Pirate" from the book] Spikes and spines, spines and spikes, a prickle of pixies, a pixie I likes!
MURIEL: [turns blue and grows wings] I am the pixie, the pixie am I! I'm a blip, I'm a blur, I'm a blink of an eye!
EUSTACE: Pickles and prickles, prickles and sticks, I spy the pixie, come here, little pix!

[...]

[Courage returns to the library with the book and starts babbling]
LIBRARIAN: Shh!
[she again points to the sign, which now reads "$7,279.43"]
COURAGE: [he turns and sees Muriel and Eustace in their new forms fighting on top of telephone wires as a crowd gathers to watch, then gets the idea to charge the onlookers admission to see the "show"]
[cut to Courage handing the librarian a giant wad of cash, which she measures out on a scale as being worth ten thousand dollars]
COURAGE: [excitedly pointing at the book and babbling]
LIBRARIAN: Shh!
[she again points to the sign, which now reads "$874,614,973.77"]
COURAGE: [starts angrily shouting at the librarian and slams the book on the counter, changing the sign to read "$10,000.01"]
[he checks his pockets for a penny, then finds one stuck to his foot with gum]
COURAGE: [flips the penny onto the top of the money pile]
[this causes the sign to read "Paid In Full" with sirens going off]
LION STATUES: You have returned and paid what you owed ... what you owed!
LIBRARIAN: [takes the book and stamps it "Returned"]
COURAGE: Yes!
[cut to Muriel and Eustace fighting in the reptile cage at the zoo with the crowd watching, when they suddenly change back to their former selves]
MURIEL: Eustace, what are you doing?
EUSTACE: Danged if I know, woman! What're you doing?

From wikia.com:

The Librarian is the propriator of a mobile library, which resembles a full sized library with lion statues on the front and everything, but miniature, and with only a window through which the Librarian hands out or receives books.

In Wrath of the Librarian, Courage finds that he has a 2 years passed due library book. Taking it to the mobile library, the Librarian refuses to accept it back until he pays the overdue fee, which by now is several hundred dollars in value. Courage has no money, and so leaves to find some. the librarian in the meanwhile, curses the book that he possesses, which later causes Muriel and Eustace to mutate into the two title characters of the book.

As Courage tries to stop the two of them causing mayhem in town, the return fee continues to increase. Courage tries to appeal to the Librarian, but she denies him, pointing out the ever growing return charge. Eventually, Courage uses Muriel and Eustace, who have taken their fairyland antics to a zoo, as a show in order to charge money from a gathering crowd. taking up 10,000 dollars, the then price fo the overdue fee, Courage attempts to pay off the book, only to find he is one pence under. He pulls a penny from his foot, and tosses it on. The Librarian stamps the book, and ends the curse, causing Muriel and Eustace to revert back to normal.

As the crowd cheer the happy ending, the Librarian pokes her head out of a snake's mouth, and shushes them.

The Librarian never speaks, but does frequently tell people, mostly Courage, "Shh!"

From tv.com:

Courage the Cowardly Dog
Season 4, Episode 12
"Cabaret Courage / Wrath of the Librarian"

Eustace and Muriel never returned a book named "The Pixie and the Prickle Pirate," so they become characters in the book until Courage pays the fine. So Courage tries to find ways of gaining money, even making a performance of Eustace and Muriel as characters.

From issuu.com:

C-47 Houston (January 2011)
Our filmmaker interview with the producer/Director of the Television series "Public Library" Ms. Hiawatha Henry.

C-47: What is the name of your directorial debut film?
Ms. Henry: It's actually a TV pilot for a series called "Public Library". The show follows the lives of 5 Library employees on and off the job (Jashon, Hiawatha, Jalene, Sanghai, and Bethany). Currently, I work at the Houston Public Library and have over 13 years of experience and you can't imagine the things I have seen. It would blow your mind. I saw my first "tasing" at the library.
C-47: Do you consider "Public Library" to be a comedy or drama?
Ms. Henry: I'd say it's a dramedy. There will be moments to make you cry such as Jalene who is being abused by her boyfriend, the coming out of one of the characters daughter. The crazy antics of Jashon and Eddie, and of course who doesn't or haven't had an evil supervisor, manager or boss in their lifetime. In this crew's case, they have 5!
C-47: Who do you have cast in "Public Library"?
Ms. Henry: It stars Integra Foxx, Angela Watts, Dominique Perry, Xavier Wright and Chirag Patel. These are the central characters. Supporting cast includes Renee Edd, Kenneth Wright, Demetria Dixon, Kiana Dancie, Sandi Morgan, Sostavia Sarkar and Jeffrey Ott. Also, two of my favorites, Joe Will and David "Dman" Escobar, will be featured more often as we move along with more episodes.
C-47: You work in a Library, why make a tv pilot and get into moving pictures?
Ms. Henry: I believe that it is a dream in my heart that has been placed there by God. He is the only one that can make it come to pass. During one of my down moments, my pastor, Lisa Comes, said, "You know it's a God Given dream when no matter how hard you try to let it go, it won't let you go!" As a filmmaker, there are many down moments, so this is the quotation that I hang on to. It's hard, but the reward for me comes from the audience's laughter and cheers. I was, recently, at an event this past week and a person that attended Houston's 2010 Bayou City Inspirational Film Festival came up to me and told me they couldn't wait for the next episode. That was my reward.

Down and out of luck in Central Texas, Alvin, a down-and-out bookworm, and June, a librarian/hooker who likely suffers from a mild form of Tourrette's, unexpectedly meet up and go on a whimsical adventure to Graceland to see the King of Rock and Roll. What they don't understand is that their lives are much more intertwined than they realize as they pursue sightings of Elvis Presley in Middle America. Mildly based and overly-inspired by 'Don Quixote' by Miguel de Cervantes.

"beyond words!" is an independent ultra-low-budget film shot on minidv in austin, texas in 1999 and edited on a G3 desktop in 2000 and 2001. not including the cost of the hand-held camera, the computer, or the software, the film was created for less than $3,000.00. with the exception of the lead actors who accepted a small stippend, the cast and crew volunteered their time and effort. the film premiered in austin, tx in 2001 and was broadcast on austin music network in spring 2002 as part of an independent broadcast film festival. created with the small screen in mind, "beyond words!" looks to connect with a new online audience interested in the role that language and words play on two individuals who are at first trapped by, and then ultimately freed through, language and words.

Case Study No. 0146: The Central Library Workers

Diner Dash 5 - BOOM! (Thyme Square Level 5)
5:37
This level introduces the Librarian Customer into the game. Librarians are great customers because they are patient, tip well, and quiet down any noisy customer. Be sure to always seat a librarian next to lawyers. There are several lawyers in this level and you will need to make large chains to pass this level in expert mode. Librarians' tip: 8-180, 7-170, 6-160, 1-150, 4-140, 3-130, 2-120, 1-110 and every half heart lost deducts 10 to the tip.

I think there's a mistake in goals. The goal was supposed to be 16000.

["Level 5: Looks like the Central Library workers have discovered our little outdoor eatery. That should quiet things down for a while. Goal: 1600, Expert Goal: 34000" appears on screen]
[scene opens with Flo preparing to open her outdoor diner, as a number of female librarians (with glasses and grey hair in a bun) are waiting in line]
[clicking on one of the librarians makes the following text appear: "Librarian Lulls: Librarians are quick with a firm shhhing! Seat them near loud customers to keep them quiet."]
[the level begins, as Flo seats the librarians (and the male lawyers carrying briefcases) while serving them food]
["Level 5 completed: Those librarians are a big help ... even if they do keep shushing us every 10 seconds." appears on screen]

From brighthub.com:

How To Play "Diner Dash 5: BOOM!"

The fun never stops for Flo the spunky waitress. This time, Flo's diner gets demolished by a mean rival who wants to drive her out of business. Fortunately, Flo's faithful construction worker friends want to help. Flo must rebuild her diner by earning money and serving food in odd places in the city of Diner Town.

You will encounter many types of customers in the Diner Dash 5 online game. Each type varies in the amount they tip and the level of patience they possess.

For example, LIBRARIANS are patient customers that leaves decent tips; however, they will shush noisy customers, which will cause them to quiet down.

[scene opens inside a library, as a female librarian is stamping a book at her desk (which includes a photo of the librarian shushing), while a bored male patron sits at one of the tables with mouth agape]
[an adjacent wall suddenly explodes, sending books flying everywhere, as a man in a blue bird costume (sitting on a perch as if he had just emerged from a cuckoo clock) pops out and confronts the patron]
BIRD: [yelling] Wakey wakey!
[the patron stares at the bird with a mix of confusion and fear]
BIRD: Smart aleck, are ye? Yeah? Well, stick this in your pie hole, clever clogs! Irn Bru 32! Pure mental stimulation in a can! And it doesn't taste like the bottom of my cage!
[the librarian walks up and looks at the scene over her glasses]
LIBRARIAN: [putting her finger to her lips] Shh!
BIRD: I'll shush you, ya tweedy old crow!
[the librarian is taken aback, while the bird gives a "bring it" motion]
BIRD: [quietly through clenched teeth] Cuckoo ...
NARRATOR: New Irn Bru 32 ... Wakey wakey!

From wikipedia.org:

Irn-Bru is a carbonated soft drink produced in Westfield, Cumbernauld, Scotland. It is made by A.G. Barr of Glasgow since moving out of their original Parkhead factory in the mid-1990s and at a second manufacturing site in Mansfield, England. In addition to being sold throughout the United Kingdom, Barr's Irn-Bru is available throughout the world and can usually be purchased where there is a significant community of people from Scotland. Innovative and sometimes controversial marketing campaigns have kept it as one of the best-selling soft drinks in Scotland, where it competes directly with global brands such as Coca-Cola and Pepsi.

Cuckoo! Time to wake up, says Irn-Bru
The Grocer
11 March 2006

A man dressed in a bright blue cuckoo suit crashes through a library screeching, "Wakey, wakey!" at an unsuspecting public before picking a fight with a librarian in AG Barr's subversive TV advert for its Irn-Bru 32 energy drink.

The 2.5m ad campaign, which hits Scottish screens this week and breaks in England on Monday (March 13), is part of a "pure mental stimulation" theme backing the newcomer to the 100 year-old brand. The ad will run until mid May in England and June in Scotland. A poster campaign and press ads will add support.
